Lancaster Honda proudly supports Lancaster Giants Girls FC. They collected their kit from Lancaster Honda this weekend and posed with Mark Savage, the Sales Manager. I'm sure you'll agree they look great. Their first game in their brand new kit was against Kendal Ibis on Saturday 15th at Bowerham School.

Players: Olivia Kenyon, Katie Green, Erin Meehan, Izzy Woodhouse, Olivia Green, Gracie Gerrard, Ellie Ryan in Goal, Lauren Armstrong, Kizzy Lehroux, Emily Steele. Before the match the girls went to Lancaster Honda for an official team photo with their new sponsors. They were looking splendid in their new kit.

To begin with Kendal Ibis were on the ball, attacking from the start with a near miss in the first five minutes.Their talented player number 12 scored after 10 minutes making it 1-0. There were some great defending and blocking from Olivia G., Izzy and Erin. As the girls had a bit of a sleepy start they started to drive forward. There was an attempt at goal from Erin from a corner with a second attempt from Emily. Newcomer Kizzy got a few good touches in clearing the ball with an enthusiastic block, taking out the ref in the process!! There was some strong attacking from Emily, Gracie and Lauren and Olivia K with some great passes from Erin. There then came an unlucky goal from Kendals number 2 making it 2-0. After some firm defending Kendal surprised the Giants with a cracking 3rd goal from their number 7. Just before half time Ellie made a fabulous save, tipping the ball round the post for a corner. Half time score 3-0, with the Giants a bit bewildered.

In the second half the giants came out a different team. They charged forward and attacked, the game suddenly became very exciting. There was some fantastic football by all. There were some dominant attacking runs and some terrific defending. The girls were finally working well as a team and driving forward with conviction and passion. Izzy was on fire!! As the Giants confidence grew so did their football resulting in their first goal crossed by Katie from a corner to Gracie who banged it into the back of the net. 3-1. Unfortunately, near to the end, there was a bad injury for Kendals number 7 which stopped play and the Giants momentum was slowed.

The game finished 3-1.
