With North West Honda Super Centre, and our approved Honda School Motoring (HSM) Centres, you can be sure to be on the road in the safest, most simple, and cost-effective way!
Starting with your Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) you will begin on a starter course where you will be learning to ride a geared bike up to 125cc. A full automatic version can be available at some schools, but this will restrict your options towards a larger bike as you progress – if you choose to. Generally, learning on a geared bike is a preferred option for many training centres; at Practical Bikes Ltd and RJH Training, you will have the option of learning to ride on the latest 125cc models Honda has to offer. This typical one-day course will have you leaving with your CBT certificate on the day if successful. Your instructor will cover the basics of road safety, riding position and road signs, as well as basic checks on the motorcycle. Once you have completed this introduction, your instructor will follow you out on the road and you’ll begin to learn your road craft on a motorcycle. Once completed, you will be allowed to ride any geared motorcycle on L plates up to a 125cc.
I’VE BEEN TOLD I CAN GET £500 OFF A NEW HONDA MOTORCYCLE?
There are several advantages to training with a HSM School; with skilled instructors who are very familiar with the Honda brand as well as the ability to save £500 off your new bike! If you pass your A2 or full A licence with one of our HSM schools, North West Honda Super Centre will give you £500 off your new Honda bike (over 125cc). Whether you want to take to the road on a CB500X or a Fireblade, there is no bike off limits!
SO, WHAT DOES A FULL COURSE LOOK LIKE?
The average learner will spend a week on a full course which will take you from novice rider to full-on two wheels, qualified to ride any bike on a full licence. Working your way from CBT and 125cc machines, you’ll then progress on to a typical 650cc machine such as the Honda CB650R. Completing your MOD 1 takes place after you have taken a theory test at a local centre which will be off-site to your training school; similar to one you would take for your car licence. Your MOD 1 is undertaken on a car park or off-road area where the examiner will ask you to complete a number of skills based exercises, such as moving your bike from one parking space to another, hazard avoidance and U-turn. With a pass certificate provided on the day, you can then move on to your MOD 2 examination. This is held at a test centre where the examiner will have radio communication with you. You will be asked to complete a directed route on the road by the examiner, who will be observing throughout. Once this test is completed, you are now able to ride freely with a bike of your choice!
