A team from Cox Motor Group completed the mighty Keswick to Barrow Walk earlier this year.
Many members already knew what lay ahead with previous K2B walks under their belt (also in aid of the North West Air Ambulance), but the route this year had been extended. It was to prove an even greater test, notably with the addition of shale and gravel. The weather, thankfully, was dry and not too warm which helped.
The walk started close to Castlerigg Stone Circle and snaked its way through to Hawcoat Lane in Barrow. The team completed this in just over 13 hours, a very respectable time, especially when factoring in all the peaks and troughs that are synonymous with the Lake District.
Now the total amounts have been released we are pleased to announce we have raised £3,000 for the North West Air Ambulance, with the overall figure for the Keswick to Barrow Walk an incredible £350,000.
When added to the money raised so far for the Air Ambulance by Cox Motor Group alone it is over £25,000!
We have a long-standing relationship with the charity, providing them with a brand new car every 6 months to use for transporting stock between their charity shops, and completing various other sponsored events for this very worthy cause.
David Cox, our Managing Director, commented: “This is a fantastic result from our friends, colleagues and family to raise much needed funds for the vital North West Air Ambulance. To think we’ve raised over £25,000 is a brilliant achievement and I’m very proud to be a part of that. The North West Air Ambulance does an incredible job and the more support we can provide for them, the better.”
