What’s to stop Volkswagen continuing to develop its most popular EV? Nothing, and no one! With excellence at its core, the ID.3 has undergone a makeover that tackles the ‘niggles’ of the first generation.
Following weeks of teasers, Volkswagen has delivered a new sharper design which offers improved aero dynamicity with a much higher quality of interior. The biggest change to take place are the improved technology; which is where most of the feedback stemmed from.
This second-generation ID.3 features the latest software with a more simple layout, offering the 12” infotainment display now as standard. You will now receive better performance with ‘over-the-air’ updates whilst driving. With access to a ‘travel assist’ feature which uses ‘swarm’ data aids driving by keeping you in your lane, even without white markings – often seen on back-roads or country lanes. The route-planner now features all compatible stations for charging along your journey; so you won’t be directed through heavier traffic to a charging location which may already be busy or have slow chargers.
Performance remains relatively unchanged. With the same 201HP motor system and battery options as the first generation; which can achieve 265 miles of range with the base 58kWh battery and 339 miles with the 77kWh pack. These highly competitive figures are what give the ID.3 its edge in the market: however, Volkswagen have teased a smaller battery for those who only need a city or commuter car.
