As you’ve probably heard by now, Honda have released eight, yes eight, new models in 2024, from race-ready sport bikes to newly-updated street models, as announced recently at the EICMA Motorcycle Show in Milan. There’s an overwhelming selection and there’s truly something for everyone, so let’s break it down.
Starting with someone we’re already very familiar with: The CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP. One of the biggest rumours on the lips of Fireblade fans was always the new winglets for the 24YM and, lo and behold, they weren’t wrong.
The MotoGP-inspired winglets offer aerodynamics as good as ever, but with less heavy impact on steering. The fuel tank also sees a size increase, raising its capacity to 4.4 gallons. And yet the Fireblade’s weight sees a decrease due to internal adjustments, and it continues to offer you the power and acceleration you’re used to, boasting 215bhp and 113Nm of torque.
Show Me MoreThe CBR500R: the Fireblade’s mini-me. Honda have really spruced up the fairing of the CBR500R with new paint and graphics straight out of pit lane and aerodynamic winglets, similar to those of the Fireblade, for extra stability.
On top of that, it’s been given loads of new premium tech such as the 5-inch TFT screen, which replaces the previous model’s LCD screen, and Honda RoadSync for safety out and about. With a strong twin-cylinder engine and updated ECU settings for improved acceleration, the CBR500R climbs to the top of the league.
Show Me MoreFrom the racetrack to the road. The new CBR600RR is a HRC-developed supersport machine with MotoGP-level electronics and aerodynamics, and searing top-end speed.
And if you’re the racing type, which you will be if you’re eyeing up the CBR600RR, you’ll be pleased to know that the 2024 model produces 63Nm torque from its stunning four-cylinder engine, and is now narrower and more compact to allow for a tight tuck and even better aerodynamics. If you’re looking for a nippy road bike with race pedigree, this could be it.
Show Me MoreThe new CBR650R will become the one of the first Honda motorcycles to be available with Honda E-Clutch technology. Honda have introduced this to make riding even more enjoyable, allowing you to start, stop and change gear with just the shift pedal. For beginners and experienced riders alike, this is sure to change the game.
Reliable and robust, the CBR650R presents the same four-cylinder, 649cc, 16-valve engine that we’re familiar with. Its race-inspired style also remains, taking design elements from its big brother, the Fireblade. Equally as powerful as the above, the CBR650R is perfect for race and road.
Show Me MoreAs we move onto the street range, we see the CB650R become the second of the 2024 machines with Honda E-Clutch technology available. It preserves its retro, minimalist look while embracing a number of fresh features such as a new headlight, redesigned seats (the height remains 810mm), and premium tech in the form of a brand new 5-inch full colour TFT screen.
Performance-wise, the stripped-down street bike’s classic in-line four-cylinder engine continues to deliver 63Nm of torque and a top speed of 135mph. It’s A2 compliant and a more effortless ride than ever.
Show Me MorePardon? Yes, you read right. The Hornet finally gains a four-cylinder 1000cc engine, and prepares to deliver us over 100Nm of torque.
For the CB1000 Hornet, Honda have dropped the retro style of the CB1000R that we know and love, and headed for a simpler, sleeker road bike look.
Suspension remains unchanged, however you might find that the Hornet feels a little more agile than the CB1000R due to its smaller rear tyre. Electronics also stay untouched as the new Hornet keeps its three riding modes, traction control and 5-inch TFT screen with Bluetooth connectivity.
Show Me MoreReady to join the hive but fancy something a little less daunting than the above or the already-available CB750 Hornet? Introducing the CB500 Hornet.
Its aggressive streetfighter style has big Hornet DNA coursing through it. With its A2-friendly twin-cylinder engine, nimble chassis and sting in its tail, it’s made to whip around city streets and twisting backroads with ease. Not forgetting, as with the rest of the new pack, the 5-inch TFT dash serves all your communicative needs while out and about.
Show Me MoreAnd finally, Honda’s new and improved (and renamed) CB500X: The NX500.
The talented 2024 NX500 offers perfect city dexterity and off-road ability. It uses the same 471cc parallel twin as its fellow new models, the CBR500R and CB500 Hornet, and joins the new Africa Twin in the 2024 adventure line-up.
Updated for even more comfort, reliability and fun, this new adventure bike showcases lightweight wheels which provide a smooth ride over gravel and grit, and improved acceleration for all the fun your right hand can manage.
Show Me More... and that’s what we know so far. Of course, these are all 2024 prospects. However, we are taking orders already with demonstrators due alongside customer orders in the New Year for the majority of the new bikes. It really is a case of first come, first served. So don’t delay! Get in touch, pop in for a brew and a natter. We’ll see you soon!.
